Fundraising Plans
The Lid I-5 Campaign realized they had an inspiring idea—build lids on freeways to create publicly-owned land to meet the community’s needs—but they needed a way to turn that into funding that could help promote the vision. As a component of a Catalyst-led strategic planning process, the Steering Committee evaluated a variety of potential sources of revenue and came to the conclusion that a major donor effort was likely to be the most fruitful. Catalyst then worked with their Fundraising Committee to set financial goals and objectives and to develop an outreach strategy, which included a process to train Steering Committee members on how to “make an ask.”
The fundraising plan utilized a donor-match incentive, tapped into a local Give Big campaign, and leveraged components of Lid I-5’s workplan to inspire donors. In less than a year, the organization raised more than $40,000…all while building its fundraising knowledge and resources.
